Insects have a job to do in this world and if you give them the right conditions they will thrive. For example crickets, earwigs and cockroaches eat organic matter. If the bushes around a property are not properly maintained and free of excessive organic matter these insects will multiply in abundance and will enter your home through cracks and crevices.
Insects love the moisture after a rain which is something that cannot be controlled but other water sources can be an issue. A favorite habitat for insects is soil and organic matter that stays damp from drip systems. Adjust the timing on automatic sprinkler and drip system to prevent excessive moisture for a long period of time. Gravel that is too deep also keeps the soil moist and may never dry. Thick gravel also causes problems in chemical pest control application since it cannot penetrate through the this gravel allowing insects to breed successfully.
The above steps also help with scorpion control. Scorpions are nocturnal and light will attract them. They hide in wood piles or under rocks, boards or debris. A scorpion may simply slip through your doorway that has a gap in the weather strip.
Enjoy the weather and get out to do the first step to green pest control to keep those pesky insects out of your structures. If you do not want to do it we will do it for you at cost or we have a network of small business people who we can refer you to.
